The idea is that each week all of us book bloggers can write a post where we talk about the book or books we are reading for the week – and yes if you are still reading the same book for a few weeks in a row that is totally fine.  Just be sure to include the answers to the five questions for What are you reading Wednesday in your post.  Then hop over to one of the host sites and share your link!
Of course, this will be even more fun if you leave the host a comment, and then jump around to another post or two, or five, and gush with them!

I’m still reading Masked. Unfortunately I haven’t picked it up since last Wednesday. I decided to join a 40 day Harry Potter readahton of all things and try to read all 7 books in 40 days. haha. It’s day 7 and I just started Prisoner of Azkaban

  1. Why did you decide to pick up this book – cover or content?
I was on MC Frank’s street team for her Dystopian Trilogy No Ordinary Star and also read her contemporary book,Lose Me and loved it! So when the opportunity aroused to read and review Ruined I just had to! Plus it sounded great! AND that cover!
  2. Who is your favorite character so far, and why?
Definitely the Duke. He’s so dreamy and dark. haha.
  3. Will you finish this one?
    Plan to today.
  4. Finish the sentence:  This book reminds me of… (other books, movies, tv shows…)
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. I don’t know why it just does. I guess because of the classicness and the characters. There’s no zombies in Ruined though. ha
  5. What type of read is this one? (slow but interesting, cannot put it down,…)
It keeps a pretty steady pace the whole time.

To join in on this fun meme, I tag everyone who is reading this!

  2. Who is your favorite character so far, and why?
Masked- I’m on page 170 now and some of the supers got agents. I’m really liking them! They are both so funny.
  3. Will you finish this one?
    Yup, I rarely DNF books.
  4. Finish the sentence:  This book reminds me of… (other books, movies, tv shows…)
Well Ruined is a Jane Eyre retelling, but I haven’t read Jane Eyre, buut I’m definitely feeling the classic vibe written into it. Even though it’s a retelling it’s still set in the correct time period.
  5. What type of read is this one? (slow but interesting, cannot put it down,…)
Masked- it’s page 170 and I’m hoping that this book picks up speed soon. They did just do their first “mission” so maybe it will.
The previous pages basically was introducing the characters and their powers. It’s still interesting though.

My Current Reads:

Synopsis for Masked by J.D. Wright: Vada Lawson can’t wait to be a superhero. Born into a family with special powers, she’s been training to fight criminals and villains her whole life. But her indoctrination into the underground super community is derailed when normals start breaking out in superpowers themselves. Not trained to control their new abilities, the normals are frightened and vulnerable. Then their mutilated corpses begin turning up all over town. What the heck? Somehow, with the help—and hindrance—of an annoying newly-minted super named Orion, Vada has to stop the chaos before it destroys her and everything she holds dear…and ruins her superhero debut.

Synopsis for Burning Doors by Renee N. Meland:
Cain Foley committed his first murder before he could even drive a car. Not that he would’ve had anywhere to drive to. When he was fifteen, America was one of the poorest countries in the world, and its’ citizens took their hatred of that fact out on each other through gangs and violence. Children that were barely tall enough for carnival rides peppered the streets selling drugs (or themselves) so they could buy their next meal. Every night on the news, Cain watched as an angelic blonde woman who lost her own child swore she’d end it. She assaulted America’s televisions with praise for the Parental Morality Law: a set of rules that spells out exactly what it takes to be a parent in the eyes of the government, and the consequences of breaking those rules. He prayed every night that she would come and rescue him before his father took his belt off again. Before she could save him, Cain faced a fatal choice: fight back or die on the basement floor. He chose life. Now on the run, he finds himself being hunted by a police officer with his own special brand of torture. Before he can save even a handful of children who have been swept up in the gang life, he must first cover up not one, but two murders: his father’s, and one committed by a teenage madam who is either the love of his life, or his final undoing. As he feels himself being pushed further and further to the edge, he realizes that surviving his father was just the beginning.

Synopsis for Noelle by Greg Kincaid:
In this fourth installment of the poignant stories of the McCray family and their lovable canines in rural Kansas, matriarch Mary Ann McCray is determined to shake up Christmas by accepting the role as Crossing Trail’s first woman Santa Claus. Mary Ann, always a bit of a rebel, is looking to offer a more progressive voice in the staunchly conservative town at Christmastime and has a few ideas up her red velvet sleeves. ( I couldn’t find a better synopsis and didn’t feel like typing the whole one from the book, but it’s about more than just Mary Ann. It’s about a few different families and of course Elle the dog!)

Now I’ll answer some questions about one or all of them!

  1. Why did you decide to pick up this book – cover or content?
I’m reviewing Masked and Noelle, but I had the opportunity to choose Noelle from other books and I chose it hoping to get a Christmas feel and I’ve never read a book revolving around a dog before.
Burning Doors was a gift from the Author and I loved the first book so I just had to read the second now.
  2. Who is your favorite character so far, and why?
Masked – Nick, I really like the main character, but what can I say I’m always in search of a new book boyfriend and Nick is book boyfriend material for me. I am also hoping he’ll start to like our main character. I’m only about a quarter through so there’s still lots to happen.
Burning Doors – Well I only finished Chapter one so far with this book, but I love Cain! He was my favorite from the first book! If you want to know more here’s a review for the first book Review: The Extraction List By Renee N. Meland
  3. Will you finish this one?
I plan to finish all three. I’m enjoying them so far and I rarely DNF books.
  4. Finish the sentence:  This book reminds me of… (other books, movies, tv shows…)
Masked – Sky High a Disney movie about a Superhero highschool. haha.
  5. What type of read is this one? (slow but interesting, cannot put it down,…)
Masked – I’m about a quarter of the way through and everything has come together and is about to go down. So far it has kept a steady pace. It’s definitely interesting and fun so far.
Burning Doors – I’ve only read Chapter one and someone has died, ranaway, saved a life and assumed a new identity so that pretty much sums up the pace.
Noelle – It’s not what I usually read, but I like it. It deals with a lot of real life issues and I love reading about all the dogs.

Books I Will Definitely Be Reading!

Other Books I Want To Get To!

I’ve been working on City of Glass since August. I didn’t even get the chance to pick it up in September at all. I just have had so many books to review. I have a little less to review this month so hopefully I’ll get to finish it this month.

I’ve had my eye on Deviation for awhile now and now that I finally got it I really want to read it, but I should finish City of Glass first.

Since it’s October I’m really looking forward to reading a spooky read.
Here’s the synopsis if you’re interested:
Kat Preston doesn’t believe in ghosts. Not because she’s never seen one, but because she saw one too many. Refusing to believe is the only way to protect herself from the ghost that tried to steal her life. Kat’s disbelief keeps her safe until her junior year at McTernan Academy, when a research project for an eccentric teacher takes her to a tiny, private island off the coast of Connecticut. The site of a grisly mystery, the Isle of Acacia is no place for a girl who ignores ghosts, but the ghosts leave Kat little choice. Accompanied by her research partner, Evan Kingsley, she investigates the disappearance of Cassie Mallory and Sebastian Radcliffe on their wedding night in 1886. Evan’s scientific approach to everything leaves Kat on her own to confront a host of unbelievables: ancestral curses, powerful spells, and her strange connection to the ghosts that haunt Castle Creighton. But that’s all before Kat’s yanked through a magic portal and Evan follows her. When the two of them awaken 129 years in the past with their souls trapped inside the bodies of two wedding guests, everything changes. Together, Kat and Evan race to stop the wedding-night murders and find a way back to their own time—and their own bodies—before their souls slip away forever.

What I’ll Be Up To In October!

BookCoverfront.jpgLose Me. by M.C. Frank

“Today is not the day I die.”

Ari Demos starts every day with this thought. Fresh out of high school, she’s landed a coveted role as a stunt double in a new Pride and Prejudice adaptation starring the Hollywood phenomenon Weston Spencer. But this job isn’t going to be easy: Ari will be performing complicated water stunts and driving fast cars along the narrow cliffs of Corfu. One false step and she could lose not only her job, but her life. And then Wes Spencer, Mr Darcy himself, arrives in Greece. He’s got dirty blonde hair, a mile-long yacht and a bored look on that gorgeous face. Ari wants nothing to do with the rich actor boy, but on the day she meets him, she has an accident. One that almost claims her life. And now she can’t hide from the truth any longer: She might be much closer to losing everything than she thought. She might be dying. And the British actor is the last person she’d expect to save her life. She’s a hard-working island girl. He’s adored by millions. Falling in love was never supposed to be a part of the job. Staying alive was never supposed to be a part of growing up. Was this story ever meant for a happily ever after?

Books to Movies Adaptions

When I am not reading, I love to watch movies. So I thought why not make a post of all the different kinds of books to movies adaptions I love and don’t love so much. 😀

Loved The Movie, But The Book Was Better

Image result for the hunger gamesImage result for twilight movieThe Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins – The only reason I say the books are better is because the movie could have done a little more “gore”, but then I guess it would have been rated R. I still love the movies regardless.
Twilight by Stephenie Meyer – I was one of the ones that read Twilight before it became a movie. So when it first came out I hated the movie. But once the sequels started to come out the movies started to grow on me more. So now I really like the movies, especially Breaking Dawn Part 1 and 2 even though that is my least liked of the books because there is to much Jacob POV. #TeamEdward

Loved The Movie and Book Equally

Image result for the mortal instruments movieImage result for divergent movieImage result for percy jackson moviesImage result for narnia movie

The Mortal Instruments (City of Bones) by Cassandra Clare- I saw the movie City of Bones before I read the Mortal Instruments series and I loved it so much. I wish they would have continued the movie instead of that horrid Shadowhunter TV show that I refuse to watch. Also Jamie Campbell Bower is forever Jace to me. 😍
Divergent by Veronica Roth – I really liked these books and the movies were pretty awesome! I am super sad they won’t be continue the movies and they are taking it to TV and  Shailene Woodley refuses to be in it.
Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan – When I first saw these movies I thought they were horrible, but the second time I watched them I thought they weren’t so bad and I started to really like them. Now I am sad because they didn’t continue on to The Titans Curse.
The Lion,The Witch and The Wardrobe by C.S Lewis –  The movie was on point! 😀

Loved The Movie More Than The Book

Image result for lord of the rings and The hobbit movie

Lord of The Rings AND The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien

I am now confessing that I have never read the LOTRs series and I did not finish reading The Hobbit because it was so darn boring. I am forever in love with the movies though.

Loved The Movie, But Haven’t Read The Book

Image result for i am number four movieImage result for the spectacular nowImage result for the fault in our stars movieImage result for the maze runner movieImage result for me before you movieImage result for miss peregrine movie

I am Number Four by Pittacus Lore – I really loved this movie and of course they didn’t continue making the series into a movie so now I must read the series to find out what happens. I have heard it is a great series though!
The Spectacular Now by Tim Tharp – One of my favorite movies ever, I love Miles Teller so that probably has something to do with it, but all in all it was a cute story. I don’t plan on reading the book though.
The Fault In Our Stars by John Green –Oh my gosh, just 😭😭😭😭 I’ve thought about reading the book because it was such a good movie, but I really don’t feel like crying that much again.
The Maze Runner by James Dashner – Loving these movies and they better finish all of them! Dying to see The Death Cure! 2018! I probably won’t read these books still.
Me Before You by JoJo Moyes – This movie ripped my heart out and stomped on it for days. I don’t plan on reading the book, but I do plan to read the sequel because I want to know what happens to Louisa. I just hope it isn’t as heartbreaking as Me Before You. 💔
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs – Loved the movie and I don’t know if they plan to keep making movies, but I hope to read the series before they do!

TV SHOWS
Image result for gossip girl tv showImage result for pretty little liars tv show season 1 coverImage result for the 100 tv show season 1Gossip Girl by Cecily Von Ziegesar – Loved the Show, Loved Chuck Bass, Want to some day read this series because I heard it’s different from the show, but I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to fit it in.
Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard – I really liked this show, but I haven’t watched it in awhile. I need to catch up on it. I am surprised it lasted on TV as long as it did. Kinda want to read the books, but probably won’t.
The 100 by Kass Morgan – I watched only the first half of season 1, maybe the whole season, but I don’t think so. I really want to watch the rest, but kinda want to read the series instead. I haven’t decided yet.

Seen The Space Between Us and Loved It. Saw Ender’s Game and didn’t really like it, I love the Princess Diaries! I want to see Seventh Son! I probably won’t read any of these books.

Did NOT Know These Were Movies

Image result for beautiful creatures movieImage result for duff movie

-Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

-The Duff by Kody Keplinger

Haven’t read either one of these books, but Beautiful Creatures is on my TBR. The Duff, I don’t really know anything about, but I’ve heard the name a lot.

Decent Movie, Havent Read The Book

It was just okay is all I can come up with to say.
Anyone recommend reading the series?

Did NOT Like The Movie Have NOT Read The Book

Image result for paper townsPaper Towns by John Green – Really disliked the whole movie. Didn’t like how the girl treated the boy and (to not spoil it for anyone) what the boy did the whole movie was pointless.

Have NOT Watched The Movie Or Read The Book

-Eragon by Christopher Poalini
-Prince Caspian by C.S Lewis
-Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine
-The Giver by Lois Lowry
-Perks of Being A Wild Flower by Stephen Chbosky
-Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz
I own Eragon and plan on reading it sometime or another and then watching the movie. I can’t decide if I want to read Perks of Being A Wild Flower. I don’t plan to read Ella Enchanted but, I’ll probably watch the movie eventually. I Probably won’t read Prince Caspian or Stormbreaker, but I plan to watch Stormbreaker because my bae Alex Pettyfer is in it. I’ll probably watch Prince Caspian one day too. I’ve never heard of The Giver until the other day and I am quite curious about it.

TV SHOWS
Image result for vampire diaries tv showImage result for true bloodThe Vampire Diaries by L.J. Smith
True Blood (Sookie Stackhouse series) by Charlaine Harris
I love vampires and surprisingly I haven’t watched any of the top Vampire TV Shows. Honestly when True Blood was on I was a hater and talked crap about it and never watched it, but I might give it a try. Think I should read the Sookie Stackhouse series first? I hated on The Vampire Diaries too, but I actually have no idea what it’s about and I kinda want to read the books, but I would definitely read Vampire Academy first. Which I hope to soon. Speaking of Vampire Academy I haven’t seen the movie and I heard it’s really bad, but I’ll probably watch it after I read the books.

I hope you enjoyed this post!

Fantasy Books I’m Anticipating Most For The Second Half Of 2017

Hello Everyone! ❤

Since 2017 is a half way over. I figured what a great time to talk about the rest of the releases of 2017. If you love YA Fantasy you’ll love this list.

Here are 10 books from the Fantasy genre I am looking forward to reading the most for the rest of the year.

lovedLoved By P.C Cast and Kristen Cast
Release Date: July 11th

I must say I think that Loved is the book I am most excited about reading this year! I love the House of Night series so much and I am so glad they brought it back! Even though it is technically a new series, it still has Zoey and the gang in it!

Synopsis from Goodreads: The bestselling series has returned! Join P.C. and Kristin Cast in celebrating the tenth anniversary of the House of Night series by going on a thrilling new adventure with your beloved Nerd Herd. It’s Zoey’s eighteenth birthmas and the Nerd Herd has been scattered across the country busily adulting for almost a year when Stark calls them back to Tulsa to surprise Z. But all is not well in T-town. Strange, dark signs are appearing—could it be possible Neferet is stirring? Not willing to chance disaster striking again, Zoey calls on her newly reunited friends to circle with her and add a layer of protection over Neferet’s grotto jail. Easy-peasy, right? Wrong. Nothing at the House of Night is ever as it seems. With rabid red vampyres closing in, Zoey and the Nerd Herd must come together again and battle evil. But a year is a long time. Have these old friends grown too far apart? When the world fractures and allies become enemies, will darkness devour friendships or will light save those she’s loved?

savageThe Savage Dawn by Melissa Grey
Release Date: July 11th

So this is the third novel of The Girl At Midnight trilogy and I am late to the game. I haven’t read any of them, YET. This series sounds really good to me and I love the covers. I probably won’t get to read them till the Fall though.

Synopsis from Goodreads: The sides have been chosen and the battle lines drawn.
Echo awakened the Firebird. Now she is the only one with the power to face the darkness she unwittingly unleashed . . . right into the waiting hands of Tanith, the new Dragon Prince. Tanith has one goal in mind: destroy her enemies, raze their lands, and reign supreme in a new era where the Drakharin are almighty and the Avicen are nothing but a memory. The war that has been brewing for centuries is finally imminent. But the scales are tipped. Echo might hold the power to face the darkness within the Dragon Prince, but she has far to go to master its overwhelming force. And now she’s plagued by uncertainty. With Caius no longer by her side, she doesn’t know if she can do it alone. Is she strong enough to save her home and the people she loves? Whether Echo is ready to face this evil is not the question. The war has begun, and there is no looking back. There are only two outcomes possible: triumph or death.

darkOne Dark Throne by Kendare Blake
Release Date: September 19th

So I must confess that I have had Three Dark Crowns sitting on my shelf for about 6 months now and I keep saying I’m going to read it and it hasn’t happened yet. I really want to read it though. It sounds super exciting. I still have some time before this sequel comes out to read Three Dark Crowns this summer, so I’m hoping to do that.

Synopsis from Goodreads:
The battle for the Crown has begun, but which of the three sisters will prevail? With the unforgettable events of the Quickening behind them and the Ascension Year underway, all bets are off. Katharine, once the weak and feeble sister, is stronger than ever before. Arsinoe, after discovering the truth about her powers, must figure out how to make her secret talent work in her favor without anyone finding out. And Mirabella, once thought to be the strongest sister of all and the certain Queen Crowned, faces attacks like never before—ones that put those around her in danger she can’t seem to prevent.

Release Date: September 5th

I have another confession. I have not yet read Nevernight. 🤐 I do plan to read it before I get this book in the mail though. Yes, I pre-ordered Godsgrave! I couldn’t help myself, I got the Barnes and Noble Special Edition that is signed! I would have already read Nevernight but, I really wanted the UK cover and it’s been hard for me to find a place to buy it without my bank throwing a hissy fit. So since I pre-ordered the US cover of Godsgrave, I am probably going to just breakdown and get the US Nevernight. I’m definitely still going to get both in UK form too though! I am super excited to read this series though because I loved Iluuminae and Jay Kristoff is just a awesome person! I mean have you seen his tweets and Insta stories!? He is so hilarious!

Synopsis from Goodreads: Assassin Mia Corvere has found her place among the Blades of Our Lady of Blessed Murder, but many in the Red Church ministry think she’s far from earned it. Plying her bloody trade in a backwater of the Republic, she’s no closer to ending Consul Scaeva and Cardinal Duomo, or avenging her familia. And after a deadly confrontation with an old enemy, Mia begins to suspect the motives of the Red Church itself. When it’s announced that Scaeva and Duomo will be making a rare public appearance at the conclusion of the grand games in Godsgrave, Mia defies the Church and sells herself to a gladiatorial collegium for a chance to finally end them. Upon the sands of the arena, Mia finds new allies, bitter rivals, and more questions about her strange affinity for the shadows. But as conspiracies unfold within the collegium walls, and the body count rises, Mia will be forced to choose between loyalty and revenge, and uncover a secret that could change the very face of her world

Synopsis from Goodreads:
Isobel is a prodigy portrait artist with a dangerous set of clients: the sinister fair folk, immortal creatures who cannot bake bread, weave cloth, or put a pen to paper without crumbling to dust. They crave human Craft with a terrible thirst, and Isobel’s paintings are highly prized among them. But when she receives her first royal patron—Rook, the autumn prince—she makes a terrible mistake. She paints mortal sorrow in his eyes – a weakness that could cost him his life. Furious and devastated, Rook spirits her away to the autumnlands to stand trial for her crime. Waylaid by the Wild Hunt’s ghostly hounds, the tainted influence of the Alder King, and hideous monsters risen from barrow mounds, Isobel and Rook depend on one another for survival. Their alliance blossoms into trust, then love, violating the fair folks’ ruthless Good Law. There’s only one way to save both their lives, Isobel must drink from the Green Well, whose water will transform her into a fair one—at the cost of her Craft, for immortality is as stagnant as it is timeless. Isobel has a choice: she can sacrifice her art for a future, or arm herself with paint and canvas against the ancient power of the fairy courts. Because secretly, her Craft represents a threat the fair folk have never faced in all the millennia of their unchanging lives: for the first time, her portraits have the power to make them feel.

This book sounds amazing! I need to know more about this Fel guy, so I must read this! Of course the gorgeous cover is what drew me to this book though.

Oh gosh. Another confession, I have not read The Raven Boys series. I know, please don’t shun me. I have till October to read them though even though this series has nothing to do with the Raven Boys I am pretty sure. But I would still like to read The Raven Boys first. I actually really have wanted to read The Raven Boys and it has been really high on my TBR for awhile! It is also on my Summer TBR! So I am hoping to get to it real soon.

Image result for winds of winter by george rr martinThe Winds of Winter by George R.R Martin

Rumor has it again that this will be the year we finally get Winds of Winter! Supposedly this Fall! I am starting to feel like we are never going to get it though especially since the show is about to be over and they are creating there own ending. I am just going to keep thinking that so I don’t get my hopes up. I loved the books way more than the show even though I still loved the show. The show started to leave some of my favorite parts out. I really need these last two books in my life!
